Its core holdings include residential whole loans — such as non-qualified mortgage (Non-QM) loans, legacy reperforming and non-performing loans (RPL/NPL), and business purpose loans (BPLs) — as well as residential mortgage-backed securities (Agency and Non-Agency MBS) and credit risk transfer (CRT) securities. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Lima One Capital, acquired in July 2021, MFA also originates and services business purpose loans directly to real estate investors on a nationwide basis. The company focuses its investment strategy on residential mortgage credit fundamentals, with an emphasis on credit analysis, prepayment projections, and interest rate sensitivity. ↗
