Lument Finance Trust (LFT) is a Maryland-based real estate investment trust focused on originating, investing in, and managing commercial real estate (CRE) debt instruments, with a primary emphasis on transitional floating-rate mortgage loans backed by middle-market multifamily properties. The company may also hold mezzanine loans, preferred equity, CMBS, construction loans, and other CRE debt. LFT is externally managed by Lument Investment Management, LLC, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation USA, which is itself a subsidiary of Tokyo-based ORIX Corporation — a publicly traded international financial services firm with assets exceeding $116 billion. LFT has operated since May 2012 and qualifies as a REIT for U.S. federal tax purposes.
